Lattelecom SIA voted by public as national public champion at prestigious European Business Awards

14 January 2014

Unfortunately no firms from Latvia have been announced as Ruban d’Honneur recipients in this year’s European Business Awards sponsored by RSM International. In a separate public vote Lattelecom SIA has been named as Latvia’s National Public Champion.

There are a total of 100 Ruban d’Honneur recipients, 10 in each of the 10 Award categories, chosen out of 375 National Champions from across Europe by an esteemed panel of judges made up of European business and political leaders, academics and entrepreneurs. The judges will now undertake face-to-face interview sessions with the successful Ruban d’Honneur recipients in February/March 2014 to determine the overall category winners.

Jean Stephens, CEO of RSM International, a global audit, tax and advisory network, which is the lead sponsor of the European Business Awards, said: “These businesses are shining examples of European business success. We wish them well in their 3rd and final round of judging and look forward to announcing the overall category winners at our gala event in Athens, Greece, on 27th May 2014”.

In the 1st phase of public voting in the 2013/14 European Business Awards, more than double the total number of votes were received this year than last year and Lattelecom SIA received the highest number of votes for Latvia. The company was chosen by the public out of the 375 National Champions from across Europe, and is one of 30 National Public Champions announced today to represent their country.

Edvards Merhels, Managing Partner of Merhels Revidenti Konsultanti, Latvian member firm of RSM International commented: “In the public voting round this year, in total 70,981 votes were cast by the public for the videos created by each National Champion. We are delighted to congratulate Lattelecom SIA as our outright country winner”.

Adrian Tripp, CEO of the European Business Awards said: “Our judges were extremely impressed by the very high standard this year and we have been delighted by the public response to the videos. It is great to see so many people engage with the awards. Well done to all our winners.”
